Born in El Salvador, Jorge has been an Arlington resident since he was 8 years old. He had just started his freshman year at Wakefield High School this fall, his obituary says.
Jorge was a proud volunteer at the Phoenix Bikes Youth Program, and was remembered by his family as a jovial and friendly child who wanted to make the world a better place.
A GoFundMe campaign for Jorge's family had raised $20,400 as of Thursday, Sept. 28.
"Jorge was a happy and playful child, a good student and an excellent son," his mom Luz Rodriguez writes. "My heart is broken knowing that his dreams will not come true and that his life was short."
